Jose Mourinho has provided an update on the fitness of Giovani Lo Celso to journalists who have dialled into Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-Wolfsberger press conference from Hotspur Way this afternoon.
Such is the protocol, the media are informed of the availability of members of the Spurs squad ahead of Mourinho answering questions prior to the visit of the Austrian outfit to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Pre-match press conferences continue to take place on the Zoom video conferencing platform after the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown restrictions mean that journalists can no longer attend Hotspur Way in person.
Tottenham head into the match with a healthy advantage having won the first leg 4-1 and in an excellent position to reach the last 16 of the Europa League.
Despite being ahead, Spurs will be wary of the fact that they have lost six of their last eight matches, however recently ended a three-game winless run at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a 2-0 victory over West Brom.
Mourinho revealed that the Argentine who has been out of action with a hamstring problem since December has returned to first-team training but it will be a couple of weeks before he can return to action.
Giovani Lo Celso back training with Spurs today, albeit with “lots of protection in relation to what he could or could not do” according to Mourinho. A couple of weeks before he can play “but that beautiful relationship between Gio and the ball is magnificent, so it’s good news.”
