Jose Mourinho reveals when Sergio Reguilon could return to action

Tottenham Hotspur could soon be handed an injury boost, with Jose Mourinho confirming that Sergio Reguilon could be fit for Tottenham’s Europa League round of 16 tie next week.

In comparison to some of the other Premier League sides, Spurs have had good luck in terms of injuries this season as not too many of their key players have been out for lengthy periods.

While Tottenham fans might have feared the worst when Harry Kane injured his ankle against Liverpool a couple of weeks ago, the England captain was able to make a swift return to action.

While Giovani Lo Celso and Reguilon are long-term absentees, Serge Aurier and Gareth Bale were also sidelined for Tottenham’s trip to Merseyside on Wednesday for their FA Cup clash against Everton.

Jose Mourinho confirmed in his pre-match press conference on Friday that Aurier and Bale have a chance of being available for the clash against Manchester City.

The Spurs boss has now revealed that Reguilon is also not far away from returning to action.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Mourinho said: “Serge Aurier, maybe he can play, I don’t know. We still have one more training session to see.

“Sergio Reguilon, no chance. Gio Lo Celso, no chance. I would say Reguilon has a chance to play Europa League next week.”

Having Reguilon back will be a big boost for the side as not only will he add a new dimension to our attack but it will also allow Mourinho to confidently employ a back three as the Spaniard is much more suited to playing as an advanced wing-back than Ben Davies is.
