Jose Mourinho reveals whether Dele Alli stands chance of playing in Europa League

Tottenham Hotspur face a Europa League qualifier against Maccabi Haifa tomorrow night in North London, despite playing a knockout game against Chelsea just 48 hours before.

The Lilywhites progressed in the Carabao Cup after beating Chelsea 5-4 on penalties, with Timo Werner and Erik Lamela netting in normal time.

While the likes of Harry Kane, Lamela, Lucas Moura, Eric Dier, and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg stepped up to take a spot-kick, Dele Alli was nowhere to be seen.

The England midfielder was not selected by Mourinho yet again on Tuesday night, having been dropped from the matchday squad for all but two games this season.

Dele managed 45 minutes against Everton on the opening day, as well as an hour against Shkendija in the Europa League last week, but nothing more.

When asked whether Alli would get another run out in Europe this week, Mourinho refused to confirm or deny, but was keen on revealing that Dele is remaining professional.

Mourinho said (Alasdair Gold): “I cannot confirm if he’s playing or not tomorrow. The only thing I can say is that he is being very professional. Even yesterday when not in the squad he trained very hard and he has the respect of his team-mates and me.”
