Jose Mourinho reveals whether Spurs will be going abroad during pre-season

Tottenham Hotspur arguably peaked this campaign during their pre-season tour when they defeated a whole host of European giants, including a 3-2 win over Juventus.

Spurs also managed victories against Real Madrid and Bayern Munich to lift the infamous Audi Cup before the competitive season got underway.

However, while Tottenham are well used to travelling around Asia and America for their pre-season tours of late, the COVID-19 crisis has called a halt to such plans.

Jose Mourinho revealed today that the club would be conducting their shortened pre-season at home at Hotspur Way in order to stay safe while they prepare for the 2020/21 campaign.

The Spurs head coach claimed that the club are not going away for pre-season and that playing in an organised tournament in another country remained a big question mark.

Fortunately for Tottenham, the club have arguable one of the best training centres in the country in Hotspur Way.

Mourinho had this to say in his pre-match press conference today (Football London): “We’re not going away. Lots of uncertainty, you organise, invest, book and who knows what going to happen in two or three weeks. We don’t know which countries can we go to? Which countries we cannot go to.

“To be involved in an organised tournament abroad is also a big question mark. We have to play safe and to play safe in such a short pre-season that we are going to have, the players then go to their national teams.

“To play safe is to stay at home, we’re very lucky because our home is amazing, so by staying here and training here, we have great conditions to work.”
