Jose Mourinho reveals why Bergwijn and Aurier missed the 1-0 win against Burnley

Jose Mourinho revealed after the 1-0 win against Burnley last night that Steven Bergwijn and Serge Aurier missed out on the matchday squad due to little injuries (Football London).

The Dutch winger was on the bench for Thursday’s Europa League clash against LASK but was an unused substitute, hinting that he would be involved on Monday.

Bergwijn also started the last Premier League outing against West Ham in what was initially a very positive and dominant attacking display from the Lilywhites.

However, Erik Lamela and Gareth Bale were the only wingers on the bench at Turf Moor, raising a few questions as to where the Dutchman was.

Serge Aurier started the last Premier League match against West Ham, but was nowhere to be seen last night.

In his post-match press conference, Mourinho was keen to point out that the injuries were only minor and that his squad is now so strong that he does not have to take risks with injured players.

Spurs eventually won the match 1-0 thanks to a late Heung-min Son header after a Harry Kane assist.
