Jose Mourinho takes cheeky dig at former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger

Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal have been fierce North London rivals for generations and Arsene Wenger represented the figurehead of the enemy for 20 years.

Therefore, Spurs fans will be happy to see their current head coach, Jose Mourinho, taking a cheeky jab at the former Gunners man today.

In his press conference ahead of the London derby against West Ham United on Sunday, Mourinho was asked why he was not included in Arsene Wenger’s new book.

‘My Life in Red and White’ was released this month and details Wenger’s life, career, and footballing principles, yet fails to mention a certain Special One.

When this was pointed out to Jose, the coach simply claimed ‘because he never beat me’.

Of course, during his time with Chelsea and Man United in the Premier League, Mourinho was well versed at coming up against Wenger in the opposite dugout.

Unfortunately for Mourinho, it appears that Wenger did actually get the better of his twice in his managerial career, with the Special One claiming 10 wins and the two heavyweights playing out seven draws (TransferMarkt).

Mourinho said (Football London): “Because he never beat me. You are not going to do a chapter about 12 or 14 matches and never win one so why should he speak about me in his book? A book is a thing to make you happy, make you proud so I understand perfectly the situation.”
