‘Jose, you have my number’ – Van der Vaart jokes about potential Tottenham return

Rafael van der Vaart has joked on social media that he should potentially look to rejoin  Tottenham after rumours emerged that the North Londoners were looking to bring Luka Modric back to the club following Gareth Bale’s acquisition in the summer.

Spurs fans were overjoyed when Bale completed a sensational return to the club on a loan deal from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

Reports from Spain claim that Jose Mourinho has also contacted Modric about potentially returning to Tottenham (Chiringuito TV).

Bale, Modric and Van der Vaart were a fearsome trio for the Lilywhites from 2010 until 2012 under Harry Redknapp.

They were responsible for many of the heroics which the Lilywhites pulled off in their maiden Champions League campaign in 2010-11, where the club reached the quarter-final before being eliminated by Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid.

After hearing the reports of Modric reportedly being on Tottenham’s radar, Van der Vaart joked that he is also ready to return to Spurs if Mourinho wants him.

Spurs Web Opinion

The football we played in the 2011-12 season with Van der Vaart, Modric and Parker in the middle and with Lennon and Bale on the flanks, is the most entertaining team I have had the privilege of watching during my time as a Spurs fan. That team certainly underachieved and could have gone on to achieve much more than just a fourth-place finish.
