Journalist asks Chelsea star Willian to snub Spurs in favour of Arsenal move

Football.London journalist, Adam Newson, has urged Willian to snub a move to Tottenham Hotspur and join Arsenal instead.

The winger is out of contract at the end of the month and is expected to extend his stay at Chelsea until the end of the season (Esporte Interativo).

However, multiple reports have backed the 31-year-old to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the campaign, with Tottenham Hotspur established as the favourites to land him (Mundo Deportivo).

The Chelsea star has denied reports that he already has agreed to move to Spurs following the conclusion to the current season (Gustavo Hofman’s Youtube channel).

Arsenal are also said to be pushing the Lilywhites for the Brazilian’s signature this summer (Telegraph). Newson suggested that Willian should join Arsenal as he is much more likely to be a regular for Mikel Arteta’s side.

He claimed that the Chelsea star might not get a lot of game under his belt at Spurs with the likes of Son Heung-min, Lucas Moura, Steven Bergwijn, Erik Lamela, and Ryan Sessegnon already at the club.

Newson also claimed that Willian would not fit naturally into the 4-2-3-1 system that Mourinho has preferred to deploy during his time at Spurs so far.

With the addition of Bergwijn in January, we are fairly well stocked in wide areas. However, the rumours linking us with the likes of Willian and Ryan Fraser indicate that Jose wants to bring in one more wide man, which would leave him with four natural wing-forwards, assuming Sessegnon is primarily employed as a wing-back.
