Journalist believes Conte ‘would give up everything’ at Spurs to return to Juventus

Journalist Francesco Oppini has claimed that Antonio Conte would jump at the chance of joining Juventus despite the way things are going for him at Tottenham.

Reports from Italy over the last month have indicated that Conte is open to returning to Juventus when his contract with Spurs runs out at the end of the season, which is why he is reluctant to extend his deal (Calciomercato).

However, Football Insider revealed last week that Spurs are set to offer their head coach a new contract worth more than £20million-a-year, which would make the Italian the highest-paid manager in the Premier League.

The report added that Tottenham want a contract formalised before the January transfer window begins.

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold said recently that those around Conte suggest the Italian is keen on entering into talks with the North London club over a new deal.

However, Oppini believes that the 53-year-old would love to return to the Allianz Arena and called on the Serie A giants to immediately offer the Tottenham boss a long-term contract.

The journalist told Radio Bianconera (13/10/22 as relayed by Arena Calcio) “Conte, in order to return to Turin, would need to cut the salary he has at Tottenham. He considers Turin his home. He would give up everything to return to Juventus and they would be the only Italian team which he would return to Serie A for.

“I would go and immediately make him a four-year offer. We need a man with the Juve DNA, who knows how to start from scratch. Conte believes this team is capable of doing very well, except for a few elements.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Conte is clearly in the legacy-building phase of his career and I am not sure what winning another Serie A title or two with Juve would do as much to his legacy as winning trophies with Tottenham.

He knows he is competing with the best managers in the world in England, and given the work he has put in so far, I believe the 53-year-old will be keen to finish the job that he has started.
