Journalist believes permanent Tanguy Ndombele sale is ‘on the cards’ this summer

Speaking to GiveMeSport, journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that Spurs selling Tanguy Ndombele this summer is ‘on the cards’.

Ndombele made just nine appearances in the first half of the Premier League season, before being loaned out to his previous club Olympique Lyon where he has made 15 appearances, scoring once and assisting twice (TransferMarkt).

Despite always being an entertaining player to watch on the ball with his balance and trickery, the 25-year-old has faced criticism from pundits such as Jamie Carragher for his poor work rate and lack of desire in defensive situations (The Independent).

The French international is expected to return to Hotspur Way this summer with The Evening Standard reporting that Lyon are not planning to activate a £54 million buy option that was included in the loan deal.

With suggestions from Football Insider that Ndombele will be forced to train on his own by Antonio Conte when he returns, a permanent move away this summer is likely to be the ideal situation for all parties.

O’Rourke believes securing such a deal will be one of Spurs’ priorities this summer (GiveMeSport): “With him coming back and training on his own, it’s far from ideal.

“So, I think for everybody involved, they would like to get his future sorted and then a move away from Tottenham is on the cards for Ndombele on a permanent basis.”

With Tanguy eating up £200k-per-week of Spurs’ wage budget (GiveMeSport), it is vital that Fabio Paratici finds a suitor for him, even if it is at a cut-price fee.

There is no doubting that he has amazing ability when he is in the mood, but after many a chance at Spurs, it’s time for Ndombele to move on.
