Journalist believes transfer target can do better than Tottenham

Pierre Maturana, a journalist for French news outlet L’Equipe has said he believes that Lyon’s Tanguy Ndombele could find a better suitor than Tottenham Hotspur.

It was reported on Tuesday that Spurs had agreed on a club-record transfer fee of £65m for the Frenchman with Lyon. (Sky Sports)

However, since then Lyon’s president Jean-Michel Aulas has stated that Spurs are still well off meeting their valuation for the midfielder. (The Telegraph)

“Ndombele to Tottenham? That’s good, but he can find better. Obviously, Tottenham is a good club that makes a good bridge between Lyon and possibly a future big club. But I have the impression that many other top clubs than Tottenham want to reshape their squad this summer,” said Maturana as quoted by Footradio.

“We can think of Juve, City, Real … Other clubs can knock on the door for Ndombele. It’s not against Tottenham, who has things to offer to that player. But I’m sure he can get better, and that he’ll have more interesting deals in the future.”

However, as it stands, Spurs are the only team, in the bidding for the 22-year-old and will be looking to agree a deal sooner rather than later or risk a European giant coming in and stealing the 22-year-old from under their noses.

Spurs Web Opinion:

The fact that Ndombele is being linked with some of the world’s best clubs has to show just how good he was for Lyon last season. However, although there may have been other clubs interested there are not many better clubs for young players to play their football at under the watchful eye of Mauricio Pochettino.
