Club figure cannot believe Tottenham star is not starting regularly for his country

Calls are continuing to grow for one extremely talented Tottenham youngster to start for his national side, and one senior figure has now weighed in on the situation.

Tottenham boast of some extremely talented players in their ranks, but no one comes close to Lucas Bergvall, who has been backed as the long-term solution for the Spurs midfield.

It is hard to argue against that as the 19-year-old continues to grow from strength to strength, with some pundits claiming that Bergvall has made the biggest leap forward under Thomas Frank out of any Tottenham player.

Frank has said that the Spurs teenager has an extremely high ceiling, and admitted that it is one of his main duties to ensure that the youngster fulfils his potential.

Sweden boss told Lucas Bergvall’s performances for Tottenham cannot be ignored

While the midfielder continues to get plaudits at Tottenham Hotspur, the situation has been different when it comes to the Swedish national set-up.

Bergvall has made just four appearances for his country to date, and his last cap came back in November of last year in Sweden’s 6-0 win over Azerbaijan.

Djurgarden sports coordinator, Peter Kisfaludy, who knows the youngster well, has now demanded that Sweden boss Jon Dahl Tomasson start playing the Tottenham youngster.

When asked about Bergvall’s lack of game time for the national side, Kisfaludy told Fotboll Direkt: “It is the national manager who decides, but I think many people like me feel that it will soon be impossible to keep Lucas out of the team any longer.

“He should start now, considering how he is growing in both the Premier League and the Champions League and with such offensive qualities. He should start in the Swedish national team. Look at what he is doing in a club that is at the top of the Premier League.”

Bergvall has been likened to biggest superstars in the game

There have even been suggestions of late that Bergvall is Tottenham’s answer to Jude Bellingham, which is how highly he is rated by many who watch him regularly for the Lilywhites.

Some have even alleged that Bergvall would be worth over £100m if he were put on the market, given the attributes he possesses and his age.

There are not many teenagers who are doing what the Swede has been doing for over 12 months in the Premier League, which is why Jon Dahl Tomasson’s reluctance to use him is puzzling.
