Journalist can’t rule out Spurs pushing for £6m deal for young starlet

According to Ben Jacobs, Tottenham Hotspur could still move for 18-year-old MLS starlet Noel Buck this month, with a deal for the youngster expected to cost as little as £5-6m.

Tottenham have already acquired two new players in the January transfer market, with Timo Werner joining the club on loan until the end of the season, and Radu Dragusin signing permanently from Genoa to bolster the backline.

The business may not be done there, though, with The Independent claiming Spurs will be looking to upgrade their central midfield options in the winter window. Specifically, the Lilywhites want a new player in the number 8 role.

Spurs may look at Noel Buck again

Most people suspect the top priority in that area is Conor Gallagher, though the Chelsea man will not come cheap or easily. So, if Spurs were looking for a more simple proposition, they could turn to Noel Buck.

At least, that’s the view of Ben Jacobs in a recent appearance on the Last Word on Spurs, where he suggested Tottenham could look at some lower profile names could be firmly on the radar.

He said: “Kasey McAteer at Leicester, I have mentioned him before, that could grow legs. Noel Buck isn’t impossible. He’s currently at New England Revolution, Tottenham’s interest is historical so if they are to reignite that they will have to move rather than continue anything ongoing, but the fee there is quite cheap, only £5-6m.”

This comes after Tom Bogert told Caught Offside back in August of last year that Tottenham had pulled out of the race to sign the young Englishman who currently plays over in the MLS.

As a player for the future, sure, Noel Buck would be a great option. But right now, we are looking to upgrade the midfield, and that’s why Conor Gallagher should be the player we push for.
