Journalist claims 24-year-old ‘would jump at chance’ to join likes of Spurs

Journalist Pete O’Rourke has revealed that rumoured Tottenham target Ismaila Sarr would jump at the chance to join a Premier League club during the January transfer window.

Football. London’s Alasdair Gold revealed last week that Antonio Conte is prioritising signing an attacking player in January (along with a right wing-back) due to the injury problems that Tottenham have had to deal with in their forward line.

The journalist named Sarr as one of the five attacking players on Fabio Paratici’s radar, along with Shakhtar Donetsk’s Tete, Atalanta’s Ruslan Malinovskyi, Leicester City’s Harvey Barnes and Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha.

Sarr, who has ten goal contributions in 24 Championship matches this season and also found the back of the net for Senegal at the World Cup, has 18 months left to run on his current contract at Vicarage Road (Transfermarkt).

While reporting on Villa’s interest in the 24-year-old, O’Rourke revealed that the player is extremely keen to return to the Premier League.

The journalist told ThisIsFutbol about Villa’s rumoured pursuit of Sarr: “He’s maybe not among the top targets right now, but if they’re not able to land those, I’m sure they might revisit a potential move for Ismaila Sarr, who I’m sure would jump at the chance of a move to the Premier League.”

Among the five attackers that Gold named, Sarr would not only be the easiest to get and one can argue that he would also be the best fit for the profile of attacker Spurs need, given that he is adept at playing on the right of a front three. Although he plays in the Championship, there is no doubt that the winger is very much a proven Premier League player.
