Journalist claims 28-year-old will have increased role under Nuno at Spurs

Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola has claimed Lucas Moura is set to have an increased role at Tottenham in the upcoming season under Nuno Espirito Santo.

Although Moura has had some memorable moments since his move to Tottenham in 2018, he has never quite been able to establish himself as a mainstay in the side.

The Brazilain did thrive as a number ten in the final months of Jose Mourinho’s reign and he has been given similar licence by Nuno in the pre-season matches so far.

There have been some murmurs that the 28-year-old could be sold this summer but Junior Pedroso, one of the Tottenham star’s representatives, insisted last week that the North London club had no intention of letting the winger leave.

Nicola has now revealed on his YouTube channel (as relayed by Sport Witness) that he spoke to Pedroso about Moura’ future.

The journalist ruled out the possibility of the wide man returning to Sao Paulo, insisting that Moura has been given a more prominent role at Spurs since Nuno’s arrival.

Nicola added that the Portuguese coach has given Moura ‘enormous space’ and predicted that the former PSG man would be a key figure for the Lilywhites in the upcoming season.

Moura is clearly the best in the squad at beating players and he is also quite adept at winning possession high up the pitch.

If he had a bit more intelligence in terms of the timing of his paces, he would essentially be undroppable. However, his decision making does keep letting him down.

While I think he is a fantastic squad option to have given his attributes (and his attitude), I am not convinced that will ever be one of the first names on the teamsheet.
