Journalist claims £45m-rated midfielder is ‘interested’ in a transfer to Tottenham

Christian Falk, a journalist from BILD, has now claimed that RB Leipzig midfield maestro, Marcel Sabitzer is interested in a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur.

Leipzig and Spurs went head to head in the Champions League last season, with Sabitzer spearheading a confident 4-0 victory over the Lilywhites across the two knockout legs.

The Daily Mail have reported that the £45m-rated midfield man is now a target for the North London club in the January transfer window.

The report claims that Sabitzer could be used to ease the burden of scoring goals which currently lies heavily on the shoulders of both Harry Kane and Heung-min Son.

Spurs have arguably lost the midfield goal threat they once possesses with the drop in form of Dele Alli and the sale of Christian Eriksen.

It was claimed back in March 2019 that Jose Mourinho at Tottenham, as well as North London rivals Arsenal, were eyeing up potential moves for Sabitzer (CalcioMercato).

Via Twitter, Falk has now claimed: ‘True. José Mourinho is interested in Marcel Sabitzer and Sabitzer is interested in Tottenham. Sabitzer is the top earner of @DieRotenBullen with an annual salary of 6 million euros (contract till 2022), his club Leipzig has a problem in raising his salary.’

Spurs Web Opinion:

I think Tottenham are missing that consistent goal-scoring midfield threat. The kind of player who can unlock a defence with a cheeky pass or slam one in from range himself. Essentially, a prime Christian Eriksen. Marcel Sabitzer could certainly fit that bill and offer something different in a front three.
