Journalist claims centre-back wants to join Spurs this summer

The Athletic’s Jack Pitt-Brooke has claimed that Joachim Andersen has set his heart on a move to Tottenham Hotspur when the transfer window opens.

Andersen’s reputation has grown during his season-long loan spell at Fulham despite the Cottagers’ failure to preserve their Premier League status.

Reports indicate that Tottenham could be in the market for two central defenders this summer, with Andersen being one of the names on the club’s radar.

Some sources have claimed that Lyon have already received a ‘serious enquiry’ from an unnamed English club for the 24-year-old, with the Ligue 1 club said to be ready to accept an offer of around £25m for the centre-back this summer.

If Pitt-Brooke is to be believed, the Dane has now given the green light to complete a move to the North London club this summer.

However, the journalist revealed that Spurs are yet to hammer out an agreement with Lyon for the central defender.

He said on The Athletic’s View From the Lane podcast: “Joachim Andersen has chosen that he would like to come to Spurs but Spurs don’t at the moment have a deal with Lyon.”

Andersen could be a shrewd signing and will certainly improve our backline. However, I doubt if Tottenham would be negotiating deals without first having a manager in place.

Perhaps, the North London club are simply lining up potential targets so that a deal can be done quickly once the new manager gives the green light.
