Journalist claims centre-back’s agents have spoken to Spurs in ‘last hours’

Italian football journalist, Nicolo Schira, has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have held talks with Merih Demiral’s agent ahead of a potential summer transfer.

Demiral joined Juventus in 2019 after six impressive months at Sassuolo but the centre-back has failed to have the expected impact since his move to Turin.

The Turkish international has struggled to get regular game time during his two seasons at the Allianz Stadium.

It was reported last week that Tottenham and Everton had both enquired about the Juve star’s availability this summer.

Gazzetta Dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness) claimed a few days ago that Fabio Paratici could give Spurs an upper hand over the Toffees in the race for the 21-year-old given the Italian’s relationship with the player.

Schira has now also claimed that Tottenham’s new managing director of football is keen to bring Demiral to North London.

The journalist revealed that a departure from Juventus is very much on the cards for the centre-back this summer.
