Journalist claims Conte ‘suggested’ to him he is ‘going to quit as Spurs manager’

Antonio Conte has admitted he wants to talk with Tottenham about his future amid the club’s poor run of form in the Premier League.

Spurs suffered their fourth defeat in five games on Wednesday, suffering a 1-0 loss at the hands of Burnley at Turf Moor.

The visitors struggled to carve out chances on a damp evening in Lancashire with Ben Mee’s second-half header enough to be the difference between both sides.

The defeat comes after Spurs recorded a scalp victory at league leaders Manchester City, with Harry Kane heading home a late 3-2 winner.

Following the Burnley defeat just days later, Conte has admitted he needs to talk with the club to clarify his future, with Sam Metterface claiming the Italian was hinting he wants to quit Tottenham.

Speaking to talkSPORT commentator Sam Matterface about the rest of his tenure, Conte said: “I have to talk to the club.”

Conte added (Fabrizio Romano): “I need to talk to the club. Tottenham have to make an assessment about the club, about me. We need to find the best solution. I can’t accept to keep losing. I’m sorry”.

Tottenham will be looking for a response are next in action on Saturday at lunchtime when they travel to a struggling Leeds United.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side will also be seeking a bounce-back display having suffered a damaging 6-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool.

Conte’s words at the end of the game don’t sound good for someone that has been here a few months. The players and squad as a whole just isn’t up to standard, but there should be enough quality to be beating sides below them in the table.
