Journalist claims Everton could make offer for reported Spurs transfer target

Journalist Ciro Venerato, speaking on Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, has claimed that Everton could make an offer for Napoli winger Lorenzo Insigne this summer (as quoted by casanpoli).

Tottenham Hotspur also reportedly have an interest in the Italian international as new managing director Fabio Paratici is said to be ‘tempted’ to sign Insigne while his contract situation is still unresolved.

The 30-year-old’s contract at Napoli expires next summer and there is no indication, as it stands, that he will sign a new deal, leading to plenty of interest from the Premier League.

Insigne’s stock has never been higher as the winger is fresh off winning Euro 2020 with Italy, scoring two goals throughout the tournament. His stats at club level are also very impressive, scoring 109 goals in all competitions for Napoli.

Venerato has now claimed that Everton could make an offer: “Inter enquired for both Insigne and Correa from Lazio. At the moment, the evaluation that Napoli makes of him settles at €30m. Everton could formulate an offer for Insigne.”

SpursWeb Opinion

Insigne is a brilliant player – he sparkled under Mancini at the Euros and has been consistently great in Serie A for years.

It would be a great coup for Spurs or Everton to sign him, as with his contract situation it feels inevitable that a club with a larger pulling power will come in.
