Journalist claims Paratici is a ‘huge fan’ of Spanish winger who club tried to sign in January

Tottenham Hotspur managing director of football Fabio Paratici is a ‘huge fan’ of Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Adama Traore, according to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

Traore was heavily linked with a move to north London during the January transfer window but instead moved to former club Barcelona for the remainder of the season, having been unconvinced over Spurs’ interest (Sky Sports).

The Catalan giants had the option to make the move permanent for a £29million fee but have not taken up the opportunity which saw him return to Molineux in the summer.

The Spanish international only featured on eleven occasions in all competitions during his stint at Barcelona, of which only four came in the starting eleven (Fbref).

Traore, who missed Wolves’ 2-1 defeat at Leeds United yesterday with a hamstring issue is in the last twelve months of his contract at the Black Country outfit and has been once again linked with an exit this summer (Independent).

Taylor told GIVEMESPORT:Paratici is a huge fan, he tried to sign him when he was at Juventus, Conte obviously wanted him in January before he got the Barcelona move. But at the moment, there’s been surprisingly little interest in him.”

Traore was set to have had reservations about a move to Spurs last winter due to the possibility of playing as a right wing-back, however, it is unlikely he would currently get into the starting eleven.

Whether Tottenham will look to take advantage of a potential cut-price deal due to his contractual situation remains to be seen, there’s no doubting his pace, however his end product is a disappointment.
