Journalist claims former Barcelona starlet has been offered to Tottenham

Sport Italia journalist Gianluigi Longari has revealed that Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo has been offered to Tottenham Hotspur.

Arthur showed plenty of promise in his couple of seasons at Camp Nou after joining Barcelona from Brazilian club Gremio in the summer of 2018.

However, things have not quite gone to plan for midfielder since he swapped the Catalan giants for Juventus in the summer of 2020.

The 25-year-old has fallen down Massimiliano Allegri’s pecking order, having made just six league appearances for the Serie A giants so far this season.

If Longari’s latest update is to be believed, Arthur now has a chance to leave the Allianz Stadium in January.

In response to a question from a Tottenham fan on social media, the journalist revealed (as reported by other sources previously – JuveLive and Gazzetta) that the North London club hold an interest in two of Juve’s stars – Dejan Kulusevski and Weston McKennie.

He further revealed that Conte’s men have now also been handed a chance to sign the former Barcelona man.

Spurs Web Opinion

Until a couple of weeks ago, I would have said that a new central midfielder would be a priority for Conte in January. However, given how well Winks has played recently, I no longer think that is the case.

So, I cannot see Spurs making a move for Arthur in January, although Fabio Paratici will know the Brazilian’s attributes well, having brought him from Barca to Juve.
