Journalist claims he will ‘be stunned’ if Spurs don’t go in for this 20-year-old defender

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has claimed that he would be stunned if Tottenham did not go in for Norwich City defender, Max Aarons, in the summer.

Spurs have reportedly made Aarons one of their top targets in the summer, according to Football Insider. The young right-back has been one of the Canaries’ stand out performers this season.

With Serge Aurier being the only natural right-back in the Tottenham squad and with Jose Mourinho sending Kyle Walker-Peters out on loan, Spurs are short of numbers in the position.

The Lilywhites will reportedly have to pay around £30 million to sign Aarons this summer and Gold believes that the teenager exactly fits the profile that the club usually goes for.

He insisted that he would be stunned if Mourinho’s men make a move for the defender when the transfer window reopens.

When asked about Tottenham’s rumoured interest in Aarons in a Q & A, Gold said: “Aarons is a player that Spurs really like, he ticks a lot of the boxes; a homegrown player, Premier League experience, a young player.

“He literally is the perfect example of a Spurs transfer, so I would be stunned if they don’t go for him, even more so if Norwich get relegated.”

Aarons possesses all the qualities required to evolve into a top right-back in the coming years and given the fact that he won’t be too expensive, this transfer really is a no-brainer for Spurs. While Aurier’s form has improved since the arrival of Jose Mourinho, he needs some competition to keep him on his toes.
