Journalist claims it is still ‘possible’ for Harry Kane to sign new Spurs contract

According to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, there is a possibility that Harry Kane will sign a new contract at Tottenham Hotspur rather than leaving the club this summer.

Kane has been at Tottenham all his career so far, with the exception of some time spent on loan at the likes of Millwall and Leicester City during his early playing days.

The talismanic striker has gone on to achieve legendary status at the North London club now, having surpassed Jimmy Greaves’ record as Spurs’ all-time leading goalscorer (GOAL).

How much longer Harry Kane will be at Tottenham Hotspur remains to be seen, however. The 29-year-old has just 12 months left on his current contract and it has been suggested he may move on in search of silverware.

The rumour mill has been in full force again this summer already, with claims that some of the biggest clubs in the world are looking at the Spurs man.

There has been talk that PSG want Kane (Foot Mercato), while Chelsea (The Athletic) and Real Madrid (AS) are also believed to be considering an approach. Manchester United appeared to be the frontrunners for Kane’s signature but have given up trying to sign him (The Guardian).

Sheth does not rule out Kane signing new Spurs deal

Now, Sheth has told GiveMeSport that Kane may actually end up signing a new contract with Spurs instead and stay at Tottenham for the rest of his career.

He said: “Tottenham do not want to sell Kane, least of all to a Premier League rival. I see a few scenarios that could happen with Kane, and they’re obvious really.

“Tottenham’s number one choice would be Kane signs a new contract at Spurs and spends the rest of his career at the club. It’s possible, but how likely, I don’t know.”

We should take this claim with a pinch of salt as it is merely a suggestion of what could happen rather than being based on any facts.

However, the longer things go on, the more likely it seems that other teams will get fed up with trying to chase Kane and move on to other targets, leaving the striker with no other choice but to stay at Spurs.
