Journalist claims Lucas Moura has made decision on when he will leave Spurs

Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola told his YouTube channel Canal do Nicola that Lucas Moura will only leave Tottenham when his contract runs out in 2024.

Despite being a very useful squad player since joining from Paris Saint-Germain in 2018, Moura has not been able to nail down a consistent place in the starting eleven under any of the managers he has had at Spurs.

The Brazilian has continued playing a bit-part role under Antonio Conte, with the Italian preferring to use him as an impact substitute off the bench.

It remains to be seen if Moura will be at Tottenham next season as Conte looks to put his own imprint on the squad in this summer’s transfer window.

The Evening Standard reported last week that the 29-year-old is one of the players that Spurs are willing to listen to offers for this summer but it was explained that the winger remains happy in North London.

Nicola has now revealed that Moura has no intention of leaving Spurs this summer, with the former PSG man prepared to wait until 2024 and leave as a free agent.

The journalist added that the winger desires to return to his boyhood club Sao Paulo after his contract with Tottenham runs out.

Moura admitted in September of last year that it is in his plans to return to Brazil for his former club, having begun his career there in 2010 (ESPN).

Spurs Web Opinion

I think Conte will be relatively happy to keep Lucas around as a squad player, given the Brazilian’s excellent attitude and his ability to make an impact off the bench against tired legs.

However, I am not so sure that the Tottenham hierarchy would be pleased for him to run his contract down and leave as a free agent. The 29-year-old will likely be of interest to several clubs around Europe and I would not be surprised if Spurs get offers of around £15m for him this summer.
