Journalist claims ‘more chance’ of Spurs star staying after Mourinho departure

Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol has claimed that Gareth Bale is more likely to return to Tottenham next season now that Jose Mourinho has departed.

Bale’s relationship with Mourinho seemed to be quite touchy on occasions and the Welshman struggled to get minutes in the Portuguese coach’s final few weeks in charge.

The forward has started three of the four games since Ryan Mason took over as interim boss and demonstrated his quality by netting a hat-trick in the 4-0 win over Sheffield United.

Reports indicate that Daniel Levy will give the next Spurs manager the chance to re-sign Bale for next season, with Tottenham having the option to extend the loan deal.

Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett has said that he is not surprised that the 31-year-old now seems to be back to his best as he is being played ‘in the right way’.

Solhekol has now added to Barnett’s claim, revealing that the returning superstar is happier under Mason than he was under Mourinho.

The journalist also asserted that there is now a much greater chance of Tottenham re-signing Bale next season.

Spurs Web Opinion

Even when Mourinho decided to adopt an attacking approach on occasions, one could sense that the players were still preoccupied with the danger of losing the ball in dangerous areas, which perhaps prevented the likes of Bale from being able to fully express themselves. So, I am not surprised that our attacking players seem to enjoy playing under Mason more than they did under Jose.
