Journalist claims PL club ‘not concerned’ about boss being ‘poached’ by Spurs if Conte move collapses

According to Alex Crook of talkSPORT, Brighton are not worried about Tottenham coming in for Graham Potter if the proposed move for Antonio Conte collapses.

Tottenham are reportedly currently in talks with the former Chelsea manager, after Nuno Espirito Santo was sacked as Spurs boss on Monday morning.

The Portuguese manager was relieved of his duties following the club’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester United on Saturday, bringing an end to a stint in the Spurs dugout lasting just 17 games.

Spurs and Conte were heavily touted to strike a deal between each other throughout the summer during the club’s lengthy search for Jose Mourinho’s successor, but a move never came to fruition, with Nuno appointed instead.

The club also looked at Brighton boss Potter as an option to come in, however it was reported that he would stay loyal to the Seagulls to continue building on his project on the South coast.

As such, talkSPORT journalist Crook claims Brighton are not concerned about Tottenham making another approach for their manager if talks between Conte break down.

Potter’s side currently sit one place above Spurs in seventh in the Premier League, after producing a strong performance against Liverpool at the weekend to earn a 2-2 draw at Anfield.

Potter is an incredibly pragmatic and highly rated manager, but Conte is a different level altogether. Talks appear to be progressing between the Italian and Spurs, especially after the rumours in the summer, so hopefully, they will be able to strike a deal soon.
