Journalist claims PL rivals have made £58m bid for Spurs-linked Vlahovic

According to beIN Sports journalist Tancredi Palmeri, Newcastle United have now made an offer for rumoured Tottenham target Dusan Vlahovic.

Vlahovic has been linked with a move to Spurs over the last few months, with reports indicating that the Serbian international is Antonio Conte’s number one priority in January.

While it was initially revealed that Spurs were competing with the likes of Juventus, Arsenal and Manchester City for the centre-forward, it emerged recently that Newcastle had also entered the race for the Viola star.

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold said last week that Vlahovic is reluctant to leave Fiorentina in January and would prefer to put off a transfer until the summer.

However, Palmeri has now indicated that a January departure is on the cards for the Serbian, with the Magpies said to have stepped up their interest in the player.

The journalist claims that Eddie Howe’s side have made a €70m (£58.4m) offer for the 21-year-old.

He states that ‘work is being done’ on the offer, with Newcastle in contact with Fiorentina over a deal. However, Palmeri adds that Vlahovic is reluctant at the idea of moving to St James’ Park.

I just do not see why Vlahovic would want to move to Newcastle and be involved in a relegation battle. He is currently the most sought after number nine in Europe after Erling Haaland and so he is likely to have offers from plenty of top clubs across the continent.
