Pochettino indicates who has the biggest claim for the right-back against Brighton

Tottenham Hotspur had somewhat of a right-back crisis at the start of the season and, if anything, that problem has only intensified over the first ten matches.

Kyle Walker-Peters picked up Kieran Trippier’s mantle for the first three Premier League games, but did struggle at times before picking up an injury.

Davinson Sanchez, a natural centre-back, then took over against the likes of Arsenal and Olympiacos but looked far from comfortable with his new position.

Serge Aurier was then welcomed back into the fold and looked impressive against Crystal Palace and Leicester City, but his true colours came out yet again with a red card against Southampton and woeful showing against Bayern.

It now looks as if the man who had to cover for Aurier against the Saints will take the starting spot against Brighton this weekend.

Alasdair Gold has claimed that Poch indicated in today’s press conference that Sissoko currently has the biggest claim over the position following his cameo against Southampton.

Pochettino said (Football London): “A few options, I think Moussa was very good playing one hour against Southampton with tough players like Boufal or Redmond. He did very well and that made me think a little bit that his option is bigger than another player.”
