Journalist Dean Jones has said that he would be surprised if Julian Nageslmann accepts the Tottenham job as he had heard that the German had ruled himself out of contention entirely.
Until a few days ago, reports indicated that Tottenham did not stand much of a chance of appointing Nagelsmann (Matt Law).
However, the situation appears to have changed after the German withdrew himself from contention for the Chelsea job, with reports over recent days indicating that he is ‘tempted’ by the prospect of taking over in N17 (Sport Bild).
The Telegraph revealed on Monday that the 35-year-old remains Spurs’ top target but he is seeking assurances regarding the wage bill and transfer spending before agreeing to take over at the club.
It was asserted by talkSPORT’s Alex Crook on Tuesday that while Nagelsmann was initially hesitant about the idea of replacing Antonio Conte at Tottenham, he is now coming around to the idea.
When the update from Crook was put to Jones, he told GiveMeSport: “It goes against what I’ve been told. I was told he ruled himself out quite early.
“So, unless it’s because he’s not got the Chelsea job, and he’s so desperate to get back in, I think there are more risks for Nagelsmann when taking that job than just waiting to see what else comes available.”
Spurs Web Opinion
The only other job which could open up this summer is Real Madrid but there are some suggestions lately that Ancelotti could stay for another year.
So, the Spurs job might be the best one available for Nageslmann at the moment.
I also think that the Tottenham job is a lot more attractive than some seem to think.
We have some world-class attackers in our squad, the likes of which not many other teams boast of, and Nagelsmann would know that his stock will rise considerably if he wins any trophy at all at N17.
