Journalist claims reported Spurs and Arsenal target is ‘hesitating’ on new deal

Sky Sports Germany reporter Sven Westerschulze has revealed that Borussia Dortmund are facing some roadblocks in their efforts to tie down rumoured Tottenham target, Julian Brandt, to a new contract.

After initially struggling to make the expected impact at Dortmund following his switch from Bayer Leverkusen back in 2019, Brandt has been one of the club’s most important players over the last two seasons.

DW reported last month that Tottenham were keeping an eye on the German international and are keen on bringing him to England this summer.

90 min subsequently revealed that the 26-year-old is also attracting interest from the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Newcastle United but suggested that Dortmund are determined to tie the player down to a new deal.

Westerschulze has now provided an update on the Bundesliga club’s contract talks with Brandt’s representatives.

The journalist stated that while the two parties have agreed on salary, there is still no agreement on the length of the contract, with the attacking midfielder ‘hesitating’ to sign a long-term deal.

If the parties have agreed on a salary, then one would expect a full agreement sooner rather than later.

So, it looks like Spurs and the other Premier League clubs interested in the 26-year-old would have to look elsewhere this summer.
