Journalist claims reported Spurs target is joining unnamed Premier League top-six side

Sky Journalist, Alan Myers has claimed that rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Mike Maignan is set to join a top-six club this summer.

Tottenham have been linked with a move for Maignan over the past two months as reports indicate that goalkeeping coach Nuno Santos is keen to be reunited with the man he worked with at Lille (La Voix du Nord).

However, it has been suggested that the 24-year-old could stay put at the Stade Pierre Mauroy for one more season as he does not want risk being benched and losing his place in the France squad for the 2021 European Championships (L’Equipe via Inside Football).

Another one of the ‘big six’ clubs in the Premier League looking for a goalkeeper this summer is Chelsea, with Frank Lampard reportedly intent of singing an upgrade over Kepa Arrizabalaga (Mundo Deportivo).

While Myers did not reveal which club Maignan is likely to end up at, he took to social media to suggest that the goalkeeper has agreed to a move to a one of the big six in the Premier League.

Spurs Web Opinion

Maignan is a very good shot-stopper but his decision making is still a little suspect. However, given the way we play under Jose, our goalkeeper does not have to sweep behind the back four or be good with the ball at his feet. What Maignan is an expert in is making himself big and pulling off one vs one saves, while his reflexes from close range are also pretty special. Given that Santos has worked with him closely, he will know the attributes that the Frenchman would bring to the table.
