Journalist claims Spurs academy youngster is now unlikely to be loaned out

The Sun’s Tom Barclay has claimed that Harvey White is not likely to be loaned out before the transfer window shuts at 11 pm.

White’s last loan spell was at Portsmouth in the second half of the 2020/21 season, with the midfielder impressing during his time at Fratton Park.

However, the youngster stayed at Tottenham over the course of last season and was one of the star performers for the club in Premier League 2, scoring five goals and providing six assists in 18 appearances (Transfermarkt).

The 20-year-old has trained with the first team regularly since Antonio Conte arrived at Spurs and was even named on the bench by the Italian several times during the second half of last season.

Although White has not made Spurs’ matchday squad for any of their first five games of this season, the Tottenham academy graduate has continued training with the first team.

Barclay has now taken to social media to reveal that the midfielder is likely to remain at Spurs.

I am perplexed as to why Spurs have not loaned out White. Playing senior football in the Championship or League One would be better for his development than playing with the Under-21s. Perhaps, Conte feels the youngster has more to gain by continuing to train with the first-team.
