Journalist claims Spurs and Celtic have both been offered managerial candidate

Tottenham Hotspur have been offered the opportunity of Paulo Fonseca becoming their new head coach, Duncan Castles told the Transfer Window Podcast.

AS Roma confirmed yesterday that the 48-year-old will leave the Serie A outfit at the end of the current campaign and will be replaced by former Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho.

Fonseca joined the Giallorossi in the summer of 2019 from Shakhtar Donetsk where he had won the league and cup double in all three seasons with the Ukrainian club.

Roma are currently in seventh place in the Serie A table, nine points behind rivals Lazio who occupy sixth place and also suffered a 6-2 defeat to Manchester United in the first leg of the Europa League semi final.

Fonseca has also been linked with a possible move to North London rivals Arsenal with the Gunners said to have already made contact with Fonseca’s representatives prior to the announcement of his departure, should they decide to sack Mikel Arteta (Express).

Castles claimed that the Portuguese has been offered to Tottenham along with Scottish giants Celtic, however he admitted that he would be surprised if the Premier League club took up the opportunity.
