Journalist claims Spurs are facing competition from a number of European clubs for winger

According to Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur, Tottenham are facing competition from a number of clubs on the continent for Leicester City winger Demarai Gray.

Gray has just six months left to run on his contract at the King Power Stadium has made just one Premier League appearance this season.

Brendan Rodgers has admitted that he expects the wide man to leave the club in the near future.

Spurs were linked with a move for the winger in the summer and it was reported back in November that those at Leicester believe that the former Birmingham City player is Tottenham bound (Transfer Window Podcast).

The Sunday Mirror (20/12, p71) previously claimed that both West Brom and Newcastle Unitedwere also eyeing a move for the Leicester man, while he also has admirers in both Italy and Germany.

Konur has said that Spurs now face competition from the likes of AS Monaco, Benfica and Olympique Marseille for the England Under-21 international during the current transfer window.

Here is what the journalist tweeted about the rumoured interest in the winger:

Spurs Web Opinion

Some Spurs fans might be scratching their heads at this rumour but I do not think it is that far fetched. I believe Gray would be an excellent impact sub off the bench and potentially an upgrade over Lucas Moura. The fact that he will be available on a free transfer this summer makes him a really attractive option to go for. However, I do not see us signing him or any other wide players this month given the current abundance of wingers in our squad.
