Journalist claims Spurs ‘are in negotiations’ to sign £13m-rated central defender

Tottenham Hotspur’s rumoured pursuit of Kim Min-Jae appears to have taken another twist with Italian journalist, Nicolo Schira claiming that the North Londoners are still in the race for the central defender.

Although Spurs were reported to be the front-runners for the Beijing Guoan defender last month (Sports.news.naver via TEAMtalk), the likes of PSV Eindhoven (Eindhovens Dagblad) and Lazio (Il Messaggero via Calcio Mercato) are said to have moved ahead of the Lilywhites in the race for the defender.

Goal’s Korean football journalist, Steve Han has claimed that Tottenham’s interest in the 23-year-old never going beyond making an enquiry.

More recently, reports from Italy indicated that Fiorentina and Lazio were going head to head for the South Korean international’s signature.

However, Schira, who is one of the more reliable journalists out there when it comes to transfer news, has revealed that Spurs are still negotiating with Beijing Guoan for Kim’s signature.

He stated on social media that the Chinese Super League club are ready to sell the centre-back for €15 million (£13.4million).

Spurs Web Opinion

With all the contradictory reports that are emerging about Tottenham’s pursuit of Kim, it is anybody’s guess at this point how serious our interest in the South Korean is. Recent reports coming out of China and South Korea seem to indicate that we are no longer the front runners, which suggests that we might have our eye on other central defensive options.
