Journalist claims Spurs are in talks over signing 26-year-old centre-forward

Italian transfer expert, Nicolo Schira, has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are currently in talks with Napoli over striker Arkadiusz Milik.

Milik has fallen out of favour under Gennaro Gattuso this season but still boasts a decent record having managed nine league goals in just sixteen appearances, almost half of which have come from the bench (transfermarkt.com)

CalcioNapoli24 reported back in March that Spurs wanted to sign the Polish international as cover for Harry Kane this summer. Napoli are said to be demanding around €45 million for the centre-forward’s signature (Express).

Tuttosport (via Sport Witness) reported last week that Spurs were facing competition from Juventus for the 26-year-old’s signature.

Schira has now taken to social media to insist that Spurs are already in talks over bringing the experienced striker to North London.

He revealed that Milik will not extend his contract, which expires next summer, and will be leaving the San Paolo Stadium this year.

Milik would be a perfect fit for us given his goal-scoring prowess as well as the physical presence he would offer. However, his price does sound excessive especially for someone with just a year left on his contract. One also wonders whether he would join Spurs knowing he is likely to play second fiddle to Kane given that he hasn’t been happy with the lack of game time at Napoli.
