Journalist claims Spurs are in talks with German international

Tottenham Hotspur are one of a number of clubs that are holding talks with Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger, according to Italian football journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

Rudiger, 28, is in the final year of his deal at Stamford Bridge and is reported to have been left unsatisfied with Chelsea’s new offer.

ESPN claim that Rudiger currently earns £100,000 per week at Stamford Bridge and he wants to double his wages in order to stay, while Chelsea have offered £150,000 per week and are yet shown any indication that they are willing to meet his expectations.

He will be free to talk to overseas clubs directly from January 1st Rudiger and will be in a position to sign a pre-contract agreement with a non-Premier League team before completing his switch next summer as a free agent.

Di Marzio named Tottenham along with PSG, Juventus, Manchester City as the clubs who are currently in dialogue with the defender and believes he will end up joining one of the quartet.

He told Wetten Freunde: “Rüdiger is in talks with Juventus, Man City, Tottenham and even PSG, who still need a defender.

“It’s difficult to see him signing a new contract. He will join one of the four teams mentioned.”

PSG, Juventus and City are all likely to bein a position to offer bigger wages to Rudiger compared to Spurs, while he may also be reluctant to cross the divide and join Chelsea’s biggest rivals.
