Football journalist Ekrem Konur has taken to Twitter to claim that Tottenham Hotspur are not considering selling Emerson Royal this summer.
Despite having a strong end to the 2021/22 campaign, Royal, on the whole, hs struggled to adapt to the demands of the right-wing-back role in Antonio Conte’s system.
Spurs are reportedly confident of strengthening the right wing-back position with the addition of Middlesbrough starlet Djed Spence, who shone on loan at Nottingham Forest last season (Football Insider).
Football.London’s Alasdair Gold had previously claimed that Tottenham are planning to use Spence in tandem with Matt Doherty next season, with Royal expected to leave.
Sky Sports News reported on Friday that Atletico Madrid have expressed an interest in taking Emerson back to La Liga this summer, with Diego Simeone’s side said to hold a long-term interest in the 23-year-old.
However, Konur has now taken to social media to reveal that despite Atletico’s interest, Tottenham have no plans on selling the former Barcelona defender.

I think this might have been lost in translation. Konur might have meant that Spurs are not considering selling Emerson to Atletico. Almost every reputable source so far has suggested that the Brazilian is likely to be on his way out of the club this summer.
