Journalist claims Spurs are set to make move for Porto wide man

Duncan Castles has claimed on the most recent episode of the Transfer Window Podcast (as quoted by The Daily Express) that Tottenham are set to make a move for Porto star Jesus Corona.

Corona has been a consistent performer for the Primeira Liga club since arriving from FC Twente in 2015, with the Mexican being deployed as a right-back as well as a winger during his time at the Estadio do Dragao.

The versatile wide man is also experienced at the international level, having won over 50 caps for Mexico.

Castles has claimed that Spurs are set to step up their pursuit of the Porto star, who is allegedly valued at around £22m.

He explains that Nuno still has strong contacts at Porto from his playing days, which could help the Lilywhites to get the deal over the line.

The Portuguese giants are said to be open on cashing in on the 28-year-old this summer. Castles asserts that a deal could be struck between the parties if the North London club present a suitable offer.

Our rumoured interest in Tomiysu and Corona, are both massive hints that Nuno wants to employ three at the back next season.

The Japanese defender is more comfortable as a right-centre-back in a back three rather than as a right-back in a back four.

The Mexican on the other hand, is more adept at playing as a wing-back than as a traditional full-back.
