Journalist claims Spurs are unlikely to complete deal for two players linked with move

The Athletic journalist Charlie Eccleshare has reported that Tottenham are unlikely to land Porto striker Ze Luis or AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek during the January transfer window.

Spurs are said to be in the hunt for a striker following the loss of Harry Kane who is out of action with a serious hamstring injury.

The Sun claimed last week that the club had agreed a £28million deal with Milan to land Piatek.

Meanwhile, Portuguese publication Record reported that Spurs will land Ze Luis as long as he is able to get a work permit.

However, The Athletic now claim that neither player is likely to move to North London this month.

Eccleshare also said that he does not expect Tottenham to be overly busy this month with the incomings likely being low profile moves such as the Gedson Fernandes loan deal.

Here are a series of tweets that Eccleshare put out:

There seems to be quite a lot of contrary reports regarding both Piatek and Ze Luis. If it is the case that we are getting neither player then I hope the club is working on some other deal that the press hasn’t got wind of yet. We desperately need a striker if we are to have any chance of finishing in the top four in Kane’s absence.
