Journalist claims Spurs could reignite interest in 26-year-old they failed to sign in January

Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur could reignite their interest in Wolves winger Adama Traore this summer.

Antonio Conte reportedly wanted to sign Traore in January and convert him into a right wing-back but the pacy wide-man turned down Spurs’ approach in favour of a loan move to Barcelona at the time (The Athletic).

The winger struggled to get much game time at the Camp Nou and has returned to Wolves this summer after Barcelona chose not to take up the option to buy him permanently.

Spurs have strengthened at right wing-back this summer after snapping up Djed Spence from Middlesbrough for a fee that could rise to £20m including add-ons (Sky Sports).

However, 90 min reported last week that Tottenham are on the lookout for another right wing-back this summer, with Traore still said to be on the club’s radar.

Jones has now claimed that there is every chance the Lilywhites could make a move for the Spaniard before the window slams shut.

The journalist told GiveMeSport: “I think Adama Traore still would have to be considered for that slot. We know how much they (Tottenham) liked him.

“There are people involved in the set-up that really want Adama Traore and even would make him a priority because they think it’d be such a good fit.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think there is even a 1 per cent chance of Spurs signing another right-wing-back this summer. Even if Doherty was to follow Emerson out of the door (which I do not expect to happen), Conte has shown during pre-season that he is ready to use Moura as a wing-back. In addition, Perisic and Kulusevski can also operate as right wing-backs in case of an injury crisis.
