Journalist claims Spurs could replace Eric Dier with Belgian international

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur could turn to Leicester City centre-back Wout Faes if Eric Dier departs the club before the transfer deadline.

Several sources have claimed over the last week that Spurs are working on offloading Dier before the transfer deadline (90 min).

Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich (Football Daily) as well as Premier League duo, Fulham (talkSPORT) and Burnley (Football Insider) have been credited with an interest in the 29-year-old.

The speculation linking Faes with a move to Spurs first emerged last week when Ben Jacobs told the Last Word On Spurs Podcast the Leicester man is on the North London club’s radar.

Wout Faes a late option to replace Eric Dier at Spurs

Tavolieri has now also backed up Tottenham’s interest in the Belgian international, indicating the 25-year-old’s profile ‘is appreciated’ by those at Spurs.

The journalist asserted that a late move for the Foxes star is on the cards if Dier leaves Hotspur Way before the transfer deadline.

With Tosin Adarabioyo seemingly heading to Monaco, Faes might well be the player that Spurs turn to replace Dier. However, if all three of Dier, Tanganga and Sanchez leave before Friday’s deadline, Tottenham would need to bring two centre-backs through the door.
