Tottenham Hotspur are still looking to add another centre-back to their ranks, and journalist Dean Jones has suggested the club are very interested in Everton defender, Ben Godfrey.
It has been a productive January transfer window for Spurs already this year, with the club solving two problem areas in Ange Postecoglou‘s squads very quickly.
The arrival of Timo Werner provides genuine quality in attack, while the signing of Radu Dragusin was a crucial addition to add strength in depth in the centre-back area.
Still, with Spurs only having Dragusin, Cristian Romero, and Micky van de Ven in the central defensive area, it is thought the club will move to add one more player in that position at some point.
Whether that happens this month or in the summer remains to be seen, but plenty of names have been linked with a move to North London as Postecoglou looks to complete his defensive roster.

Spurs are genuinely keen on Ben Godfrey
Everton’s Ben Godfrey has been mentioned in conjunction with Spurs a number of times, and it has been suggested that the Toffees would be willing to sell the 26-year-old for as little as £20m in January (Football Insider).
Now, journalist Dean Jones has doubled down on the idea, telling the Ranks FC podcast that Spurs hold a genuine interest in Godfrey, but are unlikely to sign him this month.
Jones said: “Ben Godfrey at Everton, he’s played two games so far this season and he can’t get a game because of Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite.
“There has been talk of a transfer for a while, particularly the links with Tottenham, which are true, they are real and they have a level of interest in him, but I’m not sure that will happen this month.”

I don’t know why Spurs would be looking at Ben Godfrey, when Jarrad Branthwaite is clearly the better option at Everton. Obviously, the next centre-back we sign is likely to be fourth choice, but we should be pushing for the highest quality players possible and letting them all compete for a spot in the team.
