Journalist claims Spurs have blocked loan move for 21-year-old this summer

Tribuna Deportiva journalist Hector Gomez has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have blocked Bryan Gil’s loan move to Valencia.

AS reported last week that Valencia had identified Gil as the man to replace Goncalo Guedes, who is expected to leave the club before the transfer window closes.

The report added that the La Liga club had reached out to the winger’s representatives, as well as Spurs, about potentially bringing the Spain international back to the Mestalla on loan.

Fabrizio Romano subsequently took to social media last Thursday to claim that Gennaro Gattuso’s side were continuing talks with Tottenham regarding Gil but the North London club had not yet given the green light for the winger to leave.

Gomez has now stated that Valencia had initially reached an agreement with the 21-year-old over returning to the club on loan but Spurs have now stepped in to stop the move.

The Spanish club are now said to be exploring other alternatives to Gil, including Liile’s Timothy Weah and Watford’s Nacho Pussetto.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am convinced Gil will be loaned out again by Spurs this summer, mainly because the 21-year-old will want to play regularly ahead of the World Cup.

Perhaps, the North London club feel that he stands a better chance of getting regular game time at other interested clubs than he does at Valencia, and have hence decided against sending him back to the Mestalla.
