Journalist claims Spurs have discussed a move for Belgian centre-back

Ben Jacobs has claimed that Leicester City’s Wout Faes is one of the centre-backs on Tottenham’s radar as the North London club attempt to strengthen their backline before the transfer window closes.

Jacobs said on the Last Word On Spurs Podcast (starting at 20:37) that Spurs will try to sign another central defender before the September 2 deadline.

The journalist explained that they might not look specifically for a left-sided or right-sided centre-back as Ange Postecoglou believes that good centre-halves are capable of operating on either side.

Tottenham are looking at Wout Faes from Leicester

Apart from the names that have been mooted over the last few weeks, he suggested that Faes, who arrived at Leicester last summer as a replacement for Wesley Fofana, is one to keep an eye on.

Jacobs claimed that Tottenham have already held international discussions about making a move for the Belgian international, who a few other clubs are also allegedly monitoring.

He added that as things stand, a deal for the 25-year-old does not seem likely to progress but Tottenham’s interest in the player is evidence that the Lilywhites have in excess of six centre-backs on their current wishlist.

Spurs Web Opinion

While it appears as if Gift Orban is our top striker target and Brennan Johnson is our top attacking midfielder/winger target, it is far from clear which centre-back is top of Tottenham’s wishlist at the moment.

The Perr Shuurs rumours seem to have dissipated a bit while Tosin Adarabioyo reportedly prefers a move to Monaco. Perhaps, we will see Spurs pursue someone out of left field such as Faes.
