Journalist claims Spurs have planned fresh talks for 23-year-old this week

According to Foot Mercato journalist Santoi Aouna, Tottenham Hotspur are expected to reignite negotiations with AS Roma for Nicolo Zaniolo this week.

Zaniolo was considered one of the best young players in world football a couple of years ago but the winger has had a difficult time of it since 2020, suffering back-to-back ACL injuries (Transfermarkt).

The 23-year-old did show some promising signs in the second half of the 2021/22 campaign, playing a valued part in Roma’s march to Europa Conference League glory.

However, with Zaniolo having just two months left on his contract and Jose Mourinho’s men snapping up Paulo Dybala this summer, the Italy international’s future at the Stadio Olimpico now appears uncertain.

Over the last couple of weeks, reports from Italy have claimed that Tottenham are the favourites to snap up the winger, who is also attracting interest from Juventus (TuttoSport).

Aouna has now taken to social media to reveal that Antonio Conte’s men are set to hold fresh talks with the Giallorossi regarding a deal for Zaniolo this week.

Spurs Web Opinion

A lot of Spurs fans seem to be sceptical about our pursuit of Zaniolo, mainly because of his recent injury troubles. However, Tottenham would likely not be pursuing the winger unless they had done some digging into his fitness and believed that his problems are behind him.
