Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is a target for Bundesliga clubs according to Florian Plettenberg, but Bayern Munich are not thought to be interested in the player.
Hojbjerg joined Tottenham from Southampton back in 2020 and the Dane has been an integral figure in the Spurs midfield ever since.
The 27-year-old produced impressive attacking returns last year for the Lilywhites, with five goals and seven assists in 44 appearances across all competitions (Transfermarkt).
Despite being a dependable squad member over the last three years, surprising speculation has emerged this week that Hojbjerg could be out of favour under new Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou.
The Sun claimed Hojbjerg’s future in North London could be ‘in the balance.’
According to 90 Min, Tottenham would even be willing to let the player leave the club this summer. Apparently, German giants Bayern Munich were considering signing the combative central midfielder (Bild’s Bayern Insider podcast).
Bayern Munich are not looking at Hojbjerg
Now, the latest from Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg on Twitter suggests Bayern are not looking at re-signing the player they sold in 2016, but other Bundesliga clubs are keen on Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Plettenberg said: “PE Højbjerg, top player but understand he is not a transfer target for FC Bayern. Nevertheless, his future remains open. Bundesliga clubs and more are monitoring him.”
Whether Tottenham Hotspur would actually let Hojbjerg move on or not remains to be seen, but it sounds like there would certainly be a line of suitors waiting to snap him up if he was made available this summer.
Spurs Web Opinion
I do not think we should be letting Hojbjerg go at all. He has his critics but I think he is a brilliant player who always gives 110% on the pitch and is a great personality to have in the squad. I would be very disappointed to see him leave this summer.
