Journalist claims Spurs now ready to increase Cristian Romero bid again

Gianluigi Longari has reported Tottenham are now ready to increase their offer for Atalanta central defender Cristian Romero.

The journalist tweeted that Spurs remain confident of finding an agreement with the Serie A side and will increase their offer to around €50m plus €5m in bonuses.

However, he also added that Barcelona are continuing to push for Romero, currently trying to work out a structure for a possible loan with an obligation to buy deal.

Gianluca Di Marzio also reported today that Tottenham were set to meet with Atalanta this week for more negotiations.

Meanwhile, Charlie Eccleshare claimed that sources close to the deal remain confident that a final agreement can be reached.

CalcioMercato reported last week that Spurs had submitted a ‘monstrous’ final take-it-or-leave-it offer for the centre-back. This was said to be around €55m in total.

Spurs Web Opinion:

I would be so surprised if this deal didn’t eventually happen and €55m sounds more than fair for Romero, to be honest. I would love Spurs to get it done this week so he can link up with pre-season as soon as possible.
