Journalist claims Spurs player is now in Spain ahead of potential transfer

TyC Sports journalist Gaston Edul has reported that Giovani Lo Celso is now in Spain, with the Tottenham midfielder hoping to complete a permanent move to Villarreal.

Lo Celso excelled during his loan spell at El Madrigal during the second half of last season and reports over the last couple of months have indicated that Unai Emery is keen on bringing the midfielder to the club on a permanent basis this summer (Todofichajes).

Esport Base Media journalist Xavi Jorquera Marquez even claimed over the weekend that the La Liga club had stepped up their pursuit of the Tottenham man.

However, reports from Italy continue to indicate (Calciomercato.it) that the race for the Argentine is still wide open and the likes of Napoli and Fiorentina have their eye on the midfielder.

Edul has now taken to social media to claim that returning to Villarreal remains Lo Celso’s number one priority.

The journalist stated that the Yellow Submarine are set to have a ‘final meeting’ with Spurs to push through a deal for the former Real Betis man.

He added that Fiorentina are waiting to pounce if Villarreal are not able to strike an agreement with the North London club for Lo Celso.

Spurs Web Opinion

With less than a month left until the transfer window closes, it is going to be a massive challenge for Paratici and co to push through the sales (or loans) of Lo Celso, Ndombele, Tanganga, Reguilon, Emerson, Winks and Gil.

I cannot help but feel we have given ourselves too much to do and we would thus be forced to accept less than market value for many of the aforementioned players over the coming weeks.
